Charles City Community Schools uses a variety of communication tools to keep you notified about what is happening at school.

Information

Our most direct way to reach you with an update is through text message, phone, and email. Please ensure your building admin support has your most up-to-date information. This integrates seamlessly into our notification system. If you wish to receive text messages from the school you must also opt-in to our texting system by sending a text to 87569 with the message "YES".

Community Notices

Charles City Community Schools knows organizations and businesses make plans based on the school calendar, and we are a vital communication link to our community. Our text, email, and phone calling system, is leading in alerting the whole community.

The Office of Communications also partners with Floyd County Emergency Management with messaging during times of urgent community need like the floods of 2016.

If you would like to be part of our notification system and you don't have a direct tie to a student, please complete this form.

Weather

In Iowa, inclement weather is a possibility nearly every month of the year. The safety of students is the judgment used for determining when to cancel school, start late, or send the buses home early.

In most situations, the decision to cancel classes will be made by 5:30 a.m. and the determination to release early will be announced before noon. When the Charles City Community Schools changes plans, we will use the communication streams found below.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding these procedures, please contact Charles City Community Schools Central Services.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding when school delays and cancelations occur.
